Home Inspections, is it a dangerous job?

I felt sick today on this job, yes home inspections is a dangerous job

Home inspection is generally considered a low-risk occupation compared to other construction or trade jobs, but it does have some hazards. While there isn't a specific, centralized database that tracks the exact number of deaths or injuries among home inspectors annually, some common risks associated with the job do lead to injuries.

### Common Risks for Home Inspectors:
1. **Falls from Heights**: Inspectors often climb ladders to check roofs or crawl into attics. Falls are one of the most common sources of injury.
2. **Electrical Hazards**: Inspecting electrical systems exposes inspectors to potential shocks or burns, especially in older homes.
3. **Confined Spaces**: Crawl spaces and attics may present risks like poor air quality, mold exposure, pests, or structural hazards.
4. **Exposure to Hazardous Materials**: Inspectors might encounter asbestos, lead paint, or other toxic substances, especially in older homes.
5. **Animal Encounters**: Some inspections might lead to encounters with aggressive pets, rodents, or insects, which can cause injuries or bites.

### Injury Statistics:
Although data specific to home inspectors is limited, the general category of occupational hazards related to falls and electrical risks in similar trades suggests injuries can occur. Falls, for example, are a leading cause of occupational fatalities and injuries across various fields, accounting for thousands of incidents yearly.

### Fatalities:
There isn't a widely reported or high incidence of fatalities among home inspectors, suggesting deaths are rare in this field. It's likely because inspectors can avoid many risks by adhering to safety protocols, using protective equipment, and declining to inspect areas deemed unsafe.

While not as dangerous as some other construction or trade jobs, home inspection does carry risks, and inspectors should follow proper safety guidelines to minimize hazards.
